Hey everyone! Long-time lurker, first-time poster. I recently fell down a rabbit hole of Google Easter Eggs and wanted to share what I found — starting with the most iconic one. If you haven't tried to do a barrel roll 10 times in your browser yet, open a new Chrome or Firefox tab right now and type it into the search bar. Your entire screen will spin 360 degrees clockwise for about five seconds. It's oddly satisfying. The phrase itself actually comes from the classic Nintendo 64 game Star Fox, where the character Peppy Hare barks voice commands at the player — including the now-famous barrel roll instruction. Google's developers borrowed it and built it into their search engine using HTML5, which is why it only works properly on Chrome and Firefox. What makes it even more fun is the flexibility. You can do a barrel roll 10 times but you can also try 5 times, 20 times, or even type in decimals like 5.6 times, which leaves your screen tilted at an angle after the spins finish. That one always gets a reaction. Here are a few other Google tricks worth trying while you're at it: type 'Askew' to tilt the results page, 'Zerg Rush' for a mini arcade game, 'Google Gravity' to watch the homepage collapse, and 'Thanos' to snap half your search results away. What Easter Eggs have you discovered? Share your favourites below — always looking for new ones to try!
