A golf course master plan is an extensive plan that seeks to balance aesthetics, playability, and sustainability. Master plans consist of detailed site analysis, grading plans, water management plans, layout of vegetation, etc. Architects also incorporate infrastructure planning by determining cart paths, irrigation, and the positioning of the clubhouse. The design will also keep the golfer experience at different skill levels in mind, while maintaining the natural landscapes. More recently, master plans are often rendered with CAD or 3D visualization, allowing stakeholders to look at a preview of the project before it is built.
