Malegra FXT Plus is a combination medication that typically contains Sildenafil citrate (used for erectile dysfunction) and Fluoxetine (an SSRI used for premature ejaculation). Since it combines two active ingredients, the half-life depends on each component individually. Malegra FXT Plus, the main PDE5 inhibitor, has an average half-life of about 4 hours, meaning its effects usually last for 4–6 hours in most men. Fluoxetine, however, has a much longer half-life, ranging from 2 to 4 days, and its active metabolite, norfluoxetine, can remain in the body for up to 7–15 days. This dual pharmacokinetic profile means the Sildenafil portion acts quickly for sexual performance, while Fluoxetine provides longer-term regulation of ejaculation. Because of this difference, the effects on erectile function may wear off sooner, but the influence on ejaculation timing can persist for a longer period. Patients should follow prescribed doses to avoid accumulation of Fluoxetine or increased side effects.
