If you’re new to reef tank setup, start with hardy, forgiving species. Soft corals like Xenia, Zoanthids, and Green Star Polyps adapt well to different conditions and are perfect for nano reef aquariums or larger systems like a 40 gallon tank or 100 gallon fish tank. They thrive with moderate reef tank lighting and simple aquarium water changes. Avoid delicate SPS corals until you’ve mastered reef tank stability and have experience managing reef tank calcium and reef tank magnesium levels. These easier corals will give you confidence as you practice good aquarium maintenance.
