Knowing how to tell the Difference Between Mirrorless and DSLR Camera is important when trying to identify the correct equipment to buy. The main difference is in their construction. A DSLR uses a mirror mechanism to direct light into an optical viewfinder. Unlike a DSLR, a mirrorless camera does not have a mirror mechanism, so it uses an electronic viewfinder or an LCD screen to display the image directly through the lens. Because of this, mirrorless cameras tend to be lighter and more compact than the heavier DSLRs.

Because of newer sensor technology, mirrorless cameras tend to have faster autofocus and video functions. Conversely, they tend to have shorter battery life and fewer lens options. While both sides have their own advantages, the image quality from either of the two is very good. Your choice should depend on the style of shooting you want to do.

With the newer technologies offered, it is recommended to use a mirrorless camera as it is modern and even more portable. DSLR is more suited for those who want the old style and want more tangible optical look through to their viewfinder. It is very important to distinguish between the two and it is crucial as it will greatly aide in your photography.
