After writing cozy mysteries as a hobby for years, I'm finally getting serious about marketing my 5-book series. I've redone all the covers for brand consistency and edited the books based on feedback, but sales are still sluggish (about 3-5 copies per day across all titles).
I'm ready to invest in professional book marketing services but want to be strategic. With $2,000 to spend, should I focus on marketing book 1 heavily with a price promotion, or spread my efforts across the series? Are there book marketing services that specialize in mystery series promotion?
I've considered making book 1 permanently free, but I'm not sure if that's still an effective strategy in 2025. I'm also wondering about the timing of promotions—is it better to space them out over several months or concentrate them for bigger ranking boosts? Any insights from successful mystery authors would be incredibly valuable, especially regarding which services have given you the best ROI for this specific genre.
