Salbutamol, also known as albuterol in some countries, is a fast-acting bronchodilator used to treat asthma, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), and other breathing problems. It works by relaxing the muscles in the airways, allowing for better breathing. In some countries, low-dose salbutamol products, such as inhalers, may be offered over the counter (OTC), allowing those with moderate or well-managed asthma to get immediate relief without a prescription. Over the Counter Salbutamol can be beneficial in such situations. However, unchecked use can result in incorrect dosing, masking of more serious diseases, or a reliance on short-acting medication rather than long-term treatment.
