Solo Stove's Campfire is a two-part wood-burning stove with a cooking ring that sits on top, then nests inside the base when you're ready to pack it up. It's perfect for camping trips where you're short on gear space or if you're boondocking somewhere with no established fire ring.
Solo Stove smokeless technology is based on their double-walled construction, where the inner tube and outer tube are concentric (one centered in the other). The double-wall design pulls air in from both the bottom and top and channels it throughout the interior for a super-efficient burn.
This allows the fire to burn more complete and creates less smoke than other wood burning stoves, so you'll spend a lot less time sifting through ash. It also helps to reduce the amount of odor you get from a campfire, as well as the lingering smell of campfire food and other things that cling to your clothing or hair.
The rising hot air in the double-wall chamber adds oxygen to fuel the flame and eliminates the smoke that would otherwise be produced by the burn. The preheated air then exits the upper vent holes causing a secondary combustion that gives you a more complete and clean fire.
It's a little bit tricky to start a fire in this stove, especially if it's windy or your wood is damp. But once you've got it going, it's a lot easier to maintain and you can use less wood than you would with a traditional campfire.
