In some circumstances, it may be necessary for a translator to obtain certification in order to offer translation services for particular document types or in particular industries. For instance, in the US, court interpreters must be certified by the state in which they are employed. Additionally, in order to perform certified translation services for specific sorts of documents, some industries, including the healthcare industry, may require translators to be certified.
